Do You Ever?

Do you ever pretend like you’re falling in love with a stranger.
Only to know, and watch them walk away forever?
That brief moment of planned disparity?
Hundreds of orchestrated scenarios, all happening in your head simultaneously.
But you realize that you never loved them anyways.
They were only temporary to begin with.
And actually, that’s pretty much how love is.
It’s yourself you don’t love enough.
You don’t trust enough in your own self to say, “I’ll be fine without her.”
You can be fine on your own, but you don’t want to be.
You don’t think enough to even love yourself.
So you can’t let go of the fact that you’re in love with a complete stranger.
Because in the end, the truth is that you really needed her more than she needed you.
